The Great Barrier Reef (Australia)

A visited to the Great Barrier Reef in Australia is an amazing & humbling experience. It is the world’s largest coral reef system and is the world’s biggest single structure made by living organisms! Great Barrier Reef is located in the Coral Sea, (North-east of Australia) and can be seen from outer space! So imagine its massiveness and size! The Great Barrier Reef also finds place in the UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Green Island, Great Barrier Reef

The Great Barrier Reef is more conveniently visited from Crains and from there you will be taken to the Green Island (a small island in middle of the reef) by high-speed catamaran or speedboat. The weather is generally sunny and the ocean is an unique combination of  turquoise blue in certain areas and an emerald green in others… The ride from Crains is around 1.5 hours through clear beautiful waters and in between you can see amazing varieties of marines animals. You can spot the Green Island from quite a distance as it looks striking against turquoise blue water and for being the only landmass in middle of this marine haven! The sand is white and the island is abundant with green foliage of all shapes & size!

Your catamaran/ speedboat docks very near to the shore and you can walked to the most amazing shore! Here you have a choice of activities like snorkelling, scuba diving or simply lazing around! The water is so clear that you can see the fishes and underwater life clearly, so I would definitely suggest everyone to do scuba diving or snorkeling here!

4However, if you don’t want to get wet or would want to try something more, take a ride in the Glass-Bottom Boat Ride and Submarine Ride. From the submarine window you will see all this fishes swimming around and the coral reefs and other habitations of the reef! Both are excellent and will fill your time with “oohs & aahhhs!”

The island has a selection of eateries, so don’t worry you won’t go hungry, however, I do suggest you bring your own water because the water is quite expensive here. Maybe it’s the story of “water, water everywhere! But not a single drop to drink!”

After an amazing day here you will be returned to Crains by the same catamaran/speedboat but the experience of The Great Barrier Reef will never leave you because it is an EXPERIENCE OF A LIFETIME!

Hope you take out time to visit this amazing natural wonder someday!
